Frequently Asked Questions
Who can join TCC?
TCC is open to all K-12 graders. You do not have to reside in Trenton.
How do I register?
All participants must register. You can register online beginning May 15. Registration is open until October 01, 2019. No registrations will be accepted after that date.
What is the time commitment?
Joining TCC requires a commitment from the chorister to be a regular attendee at rehearsals and performances, to be on time, to be respectful, and to sing! Rehearsals are 2 afternoons per week from mid-September to mid-May, plus occasional evening or weekend performances.
Can my child attend part-time?
We require choristers to commit to regular attendance for the entire program year, as it is essential to creating a quality vocal product and building community.
When and where are rehearsals?
Rehearsals begin September 17, 2019 and are Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. Choristers can arrive as early as 3:00 PM for supervised snack, homework time, and board games/puzzles. K-8 graders rehearse from 4:30 PM to 5:45 PM and 9-12 graders rehearse from 5:45 PM to 6:30 PM. All rehearsals are at West Trenton Presbyterian Church (490 Grand Ave, Ewing, NJ 08628). The full calendar may be accessed through our member portal.
What will my child be doing at rehearsals?
We divide choristers into five different age based co-ed choirs. Your child will receive professional instruction with their choir from our seasoned choir directors and accompanists at each rehearsal. He/She will learn vocal fundamentals and various genres of music (classical, gospel, world music, etc.) while making friends and being a part of the creative process. There is also homework help, group games, and a healthy snack at every rehearsal.
Is transportation provided?
TCC provides van transportation from some Trenton-area schools to rehearsals. The cost for this is $100.00 per year (in addition to tuition). Routes are not finalized until mid-September. We encourage you to register even if you are unsure about transportation. If your child requires transportation and we cannot provide it, you will be given a full refund of all tuition and fees. TCC does not provide transportation home from rehearsals.
What days are Learning Academy held on?
When and where are performances?
Performances vary each year. All choristers will participate in major performances 2-3 times per year. There will also be opportunities for performances out in the community. Our program manager communicates regularly with all families about upcoming performances.
How much is tuition?
Tuition is billed on a sliding scale and ranges from $96.00 to $385.00 per chorister for the year depending on your household income. It covers program, instruction, uniform, and snacks. You are required to submit a 30% deposit when registering. The balance of tuition is due by February 1 for the spring semester and October 1 for the fall semester. All tuition payments are fully refundable until February 1 and October 1. No refunds will be issued after these dates.
Can we visit a rehearsal before joining?
